Since 1992: Boyfriend's (And His Friends') Surprise Birthday Party

Because it's his 25th birthday this year, I decided to give him something special - a surprise birthday party, which eventually turned out to be a party for 3 other friends of his as well (as suggested by his friends). At first, I had a slight dilemma on their suggestion, but I was sure that boyfriend would love that idea and if he had a say, he would say yes to that because:-

  1. They are friends since primary / secondary school, which makes it 12 years of friendship.
  2. Their birthdays are either 1 day away or 1 - 2 weeks away from each other.

Plus, I only invited his secondary school friends (which is a lot) and they all knew each other so, why not?

The four birthday boys.

I've been planning for the surprise birthday party for the longest of time. It had to be perfect because any slightest movement out of our norm would definitely trigger boyfriend's suspicion that I am planning something secretly and on top of that, I need to keep the other 3 friends in sync so they are kept in the dark while they think that they are part of the planning committee.

The day before and on the actual day of the party was pretty much hectic with me running all around Singapore back and forth collecting and preparing everything needed for the party. Luckily I had bbg, C., KX and DP helping me with all the coordinating, booking, preparations and setting up, otherwise I couldn't have pulled everything off alone.

Initially, I wanted to order catering food but decided to go ahead with having a BBQ party instead because of budget constraints. I exhausted most of my budget on the costs of the chalet (more expensive since it is December), decorations and the cakes (because I bought three!), so BBQ it shall be. Although his friends did suggest to split the cost, I did not split the cost entirely with them. Only a part of it as I felt bad because it was I who wanted to have this party. Plus, who attends a birthday party and have to pay for the costs of the party? HAHAHAH!

Thank you for helping with the cooking of all the food.

Who says birthday boys don't have to help?

Their presence, effort and help are more than enough.

I believe we all must thank ZH and WY the most because they cooked all the food from the very start to the very end of the party. In short, they were the ones who fed everyone. Of course, not forgetting those who helped to prepare the food for cooking. Ever seen birthday boys preparing their own food at their own party? At this party, we did! HAHAHAH!

Is it JM the game master on the roll again? Look how attentive everyone is while JM is trying to explain the game rules to them.

Did I mention how confused the other 3 guys were because they couldn't figure out why they were told to wear white (obviously 2 did not follow) but everyone else is in black (yes, I set a dress colour code)? It was so hilarious because they were questioning and everyone else continued to play along. It took them quite some time to figure out that the surprise party was for them as well!

The Gentlemen.

The Ladies.

A huge group right? But these aren't everyone that I've invited to the part. Some couldn't make it. His secondary school clique is really huge but they are all nice and great friends to have and be with. They always make me laugh so bad.

Pardon the really bad lighting in the room and the bad angle. We had to squeeze and there just wasn't enough space to take a nice shot, and I forgot to bring my tripod so bbg had to climb up to take a shot of all of us together in a frame.

Can I just say how glad I am that he has this bunch of friends who stuck on with him since secondary school and a few since primary school? I hope that they will always be by each other's side as they grow older; never apart. He is really very lucky to have them as friends and I am very blessed to have him.

Thank you all for being part of his life.
